Hi Brad,

I'll keep in touch with you, maybe I'll hear something soon, I'm a little closer to home then you. I'm still here in Hanford, I moved to Virginia for a couple of years around 1983, but ended up back here, my husband was living in Virginia for a while, he's from this area too. We ended up buying a house his mom had, then had it re-modeled from the ground up, it's a two story old victorian home on Ivy street, across the street from "squares corner". We've been together for 16 years and married 1 1/2, don't ask, it's a long story.

We have a son who will be 18 next month, (my husband's step son) we also have a 10 year old son and a 4 year old son, we have all boys.

I also work for a non-profit agency, Economic Development for Kings County, I've been here going on 8 years, we are going to join forces with the County, so hopefully things will get better, up the ladder wise. I can't picture you in my mind, guess I'll have to break out the year book.

Well it was good talking to you, keep in touch and good luck with the new baby!

See ya, Shirl

Brad,

Daren Matteson here... What's up with you???

Have you heard any info about our 20th. reunion? I didn't go to the 15th, but would like to go to the 20th if it's on. I don't get the Hanford paper and mom and dad don't see all the articles I would be interested in....

Don't know if you are aware, I work at East Campus and have for 3 years....I'm still a cop for the city, just assigned to the campus full time. I was married and have two kids... Mark will be 16 this month and Jennifer is almost 18. How about you? Have a good day.

Daren

Hey Daren,

Thanks for the message and life story update. You are one of a growing number of classmates who are contacting me regarding the reunion. First of all, let me say that I have absolutely no knowledge of reunion plans and that you are not the first Hanford resident to tell me that there is no information being published about such plans. I must say I'm a bit suprised that a Hanford peace officer doesn't read the local paper. It carries the high school sports, doesn't that interest you?!

So, I am not involved in the plans for the reunion and cannot really do it from where I am. I live in San Rafael and have worked at a non-profit educational institution in San Francisco for the past 11 years. I have two children, Emily (8), and Noah (2), with another girl coming this July! I've lived in the Bay Area for the past 16 years after graduation from the University of California, San Diego. I work in the field of educational technology. I run a project that helps students and families trace their family history and the students document their research in classroom video projects. Also, I run an educational web site and online courses and discussion groups for educators.

I have begun plans to build an online reunion site to document the class of '78; sort of a "where are they now" thing where everyone can share their stories about the journeys they've taken to get where they are today. It would be fun for people to do, I think, and help connect us all before we come together this Summer. Or, even if someone can't come to the reunion. Sound like a fun thing to do?

Let me know what you think and please let me know what plans, if any, you hear about and I'll begin posting them on the web as soon as I get them.

It's great to hear from you, Daren. It sounds like you've got a pretty good life going there. I'm very happy for you.

"Red and White, Tough and Great, That's the Spirit of '78!"

Regards, Brad

Actually, I live in Visalia. I also work at the East Campus so I keep up on the sports that way... The girls basketball team lost last night to Stockdale, of Bakersfield, for the Valley Championship.

I also have a website devoted to my job at school.

My daughter just came in with her "friend" (male) and I need to get off the computer... See ya...

Brad:

I am the wife of a 1978 graduate and found your web site. Since my husband is not into computers I would like to add his name to your class list. His name is Myron Barbeiro and we reside in Hanford with our 2 1/2 year old daughter. We have been together for 18 years and married 11. My name was Janet Spiller and a 1980 graduate of Hanford High. Please keep us informed of the upcoming class reunion. We can be reached at jbarbeir@kings.k12.ca.us.

Brad,

Yes, I received your memo and web page. Some pretty cool stuff, dude! I browsed through it last night and will look more in depth this morning-before the house wakes up. Also, I was excited to get a e-mail from Keith Meeks. By for now. I want to take a second look at your page. Dan

Brad,

I don't know who that other Brad Lakritz is that I tried to e-mail to a couple of months ago but I enjoyed speaking to you tonight. The Hanford Class of 78 Web Page is great. E-mail is the 90's version of the answering machine, don't you wish everyone had it?

I'll communicate with Joann, remove those return addresses, and forward you labels as soon as possible. I've added all those classmates to a Class of 78 Mailing List that I've built, and bookmarked the web page. For this and future reunions it'll be fun to keep in touch this way. You did a great job!!

I still have too much to do tonight to compose a story for the web site but I'll give it some thought. Good night, and talk to you soon via e-mail.

Maria (Costa) Hernandez
